This guide provides the necessary steps for Google Workspace administrators to force-install and pin a specific version of the Loopio Extension on the extension bar and prevent auto-updates across all managed Chrome browsers.
Prerequisites
To ensure a successful deployment, the following organizational requirements must be met:
- Managed Browsers: Google Chrome browsers must be managed by your organization via Chrome Enterprise policies. This is Configured in Google Workspace Admin under Chrome Browser → Managed Browser
- Organizational Accounts: Google Chrome Profiles must be signed in and syncing to your organizational user accounts
- MDM Policy Conflict Avoidance: Your Mobile Device Management (MDM) software (e.g. Kandji, JAMF, Intune, etc.) or software equivalent must not be pushing any conflicting Google Chrome settings, profiles, or configurations. Deploying settings via MDM will conflict with Chrome Enterprise's Managed Browser policies
Create an Organizational Unit
An Organizational Unit allows you to apply specific settings to a group of users or devices.
- Navigate to admin.google.com and sign-in
-
On the side menu, locate Directory and select Organizational Units
Tip: Check out this guide from Google, Add an organizational unit
- Click Create Organizational Unit

Step 1: Navigate to Chrome App Settings
- Log in to the Google Admin console at admin.google.com
- Navigate to: Devices → Chrome → Apps & Extensions → Users and Browsers
Step 2: Select the Target Organization Unit (OU)
- Select the Organizational Unit (OU) from the list to which you want to apply this policy (e.g., "All Users," "Sales Team," etc.)
Step 3: Add the Loopio Extension

- Select Add from Chrome store
- Search for "Loopio Extension (New)"
- Click on the Loopio Extension (New) result
- Click Select on the top right of the window
Step 4: Configure Installation and Pinning
- A new configuration window will appear for the extension
- Change the Installation policy dropdown menu to: Force install + pin to browser toolbar
- Under the Version pinning section, select the specific version number of the extension you wish to deploy and maintain
Step 5: Confirm Version Pinning
- A confirmation pop-up window will notify you of the following: "By pinning an app/extension, this app/extension won't get any updates, including security and compatibility updates."
- Click OK to confirm your decision
Result
All managed browsers and signed-in profiles associated with the selected organizational unit will now:
- Force-install the Loopio Extension
- Pin the extension to the user's browser toolbar
- Remain locked to the specified version, preventing automatic updates
Validation and Troubleshooting
Validation
To confirm the policy is successfully deployed to a user's browser:
- Open Google Chrome on a managed user device
- Navigate to: chrome://policy
- Review the ExtensionInstallForcelist policy. You should see the Loopio Extension ID listed here
Troubleshooting
- If the extension does not automatically install, check the ExtensionInstallForcelist policy by navigating to chrome://policy on Chrome
- If the policy appears to be in conflict or is not applying, review your organization's Mobile Device Management (MDM) software to ensure there are no conflicting policies deploying other Google Chrome settings
