What is a Glossary?
A glossary is a list of terms with definitions that you create for the Document Translation service to reference during the translation process. Terms in the Glossary will be translated exactly as specified in the Glossary when exporting an answer to a translated Source Document in the source language.
Common use cases for glossaries include:
- Context-specific terminology: Create a glossary that designates specific meanings for your unique context
- No translation: For terms that should not be translated, create a glossary entry with the same source and target text. For example, you can restrict Document Translation from translating product name brands by entering the brand name in both columns
- Specified translations for ambiguous words: Choose a specific translation for words that have several possible meanings or translations
How Can I Have a Glossary Added to My Account?
Warning: Each account can contain only one Translation Glossary per language. Any new glossary file sent to our team will overwrite previous glossaries, and should include all required terms rather than only new additions.
- Download the Glossary Sample File
- Fill in the English term in column A, and your desired translation in column B
Tips: For terms that should not be translated, enter the same word in both columns A and B. Glossary terms are case-sensitive.
- Send your completed glossary to Loopio and specify which language you would like the glossary to apply to. You can create multiple glossary documents if you need them for multiple different languages.

- We will notify you when we have uploaded your glossary and it is ready to test!
Tips for Creating Your Translation Glossary
- Do not include a header row in your file
- Always enter the English term in column A, and the target language in column B
- For terms that should not be translated, enter the same text in column A and column B
- Your glossary is case-sensitive. Include terms in all possible capitalizations used in client files.
- Each glossary file must be named in the format specified below, based on the target language in the file
