How Do I Modify or Delete Existing Dynamic Placeholders (Merge Variables) in My Library?

A Merge Variable is a placeholder value that can be dynamically populated. Merge Variables allow you to update and maintain dynamic pieces of information in your Library in an easy, centralized way.

Modifying Existing Merge Variables

Updates to the Variable Value in a Merge Variable will be immediately reflected in any Library Entry in which the Merge Variable is used.

1. Click Library in the top navigation
2. Select Merge Variables
   
3. Locate the Merge Variable you would like to update, then click the Edit Variable (pencil) icon
   
4. Update your Merge Variable details
   
   • Variable Name: The name or topic of your Merge Variable (this is how it will appear in the Library Entry create and edit flows)
   • Value: The value that currently defines your Merge Variable (this is the value that will display in your saved Library Entries when the Merge Variable is used)
   • Comment/instructions: Any context that will help your Users to ensure this variable is used as intended
5. Click the checkmark button to save your Merge Variable

Deleting a Merge Variable

Delete a Merge Variable to remove it from all Library Entries, Project Entries and Reviews, and replace it with the Variable Value at the time of deletion.

1. Click Library in the top navigation
2. Select Merge Variables
   
3. Locate the Merge Variable you would like to update, then click the Delete Variable (bin) icon
   
4. Click Delete on the confirmation modal to delete the Merge Variable
